A Shift in Life's Roles

A sweet young lady who grew up on a little island in her lovely hamlet. Her father took her on holidays to every place, spoiling her with love and attention, she was the only sister among her two brothers. She had always been close to her family and had never considered moving to a city, but as she grew older, her parents began to look for a suitable husband. They found one man, and although she never considered leaving her parents and moving to a nearby city, she was now married to a man in uniform. She was well aware that she would have to be separated from her family.

They were all in tears as they saw her leave, as were her siblings, but she had no idea what was ahead of her. For the first time in her life, the simple girl from a lovely village had traveled from the Andamans to straight Jammu, and all she could see were troops and officers. Her husband would leave early in the morning and return late in the evening. In a small room in Jammu in 1992, there was no amusement or activity for her to engage in, and even if she wanted to go out or buy something for the house, she would always be accompanied by two armed soldiers.

It wasn't just the officer who was experiencing problems, but also his wife. Still, they were content with themselves; he would bring her jalebis on his way home from work. They were finally sent to a location where they could start a family. He departed for an exercise a few years later, as he generally does. However, a few days later, the press reported on the unit, stating that one of them had died. She couldn't stop sobbing and kept calling and asking for him, even though the squad was still missing. One morning she received a call; yes, they found him and yes, he is coming home soon. With an injured hand, he rang the bell. She was overjoyed and in tears when she saw him and immediately went into his arms. She's been stuck in a bind since the day she got married.

Because when she married, she didn't only become a wife; she also became an Army wife!
